Ok...I'm into my summer reading and need a good book. I read The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency last week (good book...very light reading) and finished Seabiscuit last night (great book...I will SO be making kball take me to the horse tracks when I come to KY!) and now I'm ready for a new read but don't know what to get. I am going to get the sequels to Detective Agency but want something a tad bit meatier to sink my teeth into.
So...I'm wondering what ya'll are reading this summer and if you have any "must-read" recommendations to make.
Also...I'm actually going to finish and post the literary meme that Songstress tagged me with nearly a month ago. Geez...I really suck with astounding proficiency, don't I! (Shut up, Jerry!) :-)~
You know I will take you to the track. Just not during Derby. :-)
As for the books, the ones you know I got are on the way and I can't wait to start reading them.

Try them, I think you'll like them.

Posted by: Ryan at July 12, 2005 05:40 PMI'm reading The Broker by John Grisham (love him!). I read The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency a couple months ago and really enjoyed it too (Joey bought it for himself but hadn't even read it yet, so I took it!). I am planning on getting 1776 by David McCullough soon (I loved the John Adams book he wrote!).

Posted by: Pam at July 12, 2005 08:00 PMWell hey, at least you didn't forget! :)
I'm in re-reading mode right now - just finished another read of Atlas Shrugged, and for lighter fare am starting on a re-read of the Stephanie Plum series (One for the Money, etc.) by Janet Evanovich. Before Atlas Shrugged, I'd been working my way through Sue Grafton's alphabet mysteries. I've also been reading The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman, The Power and Purpose of Praise and Worship by Dr. Myles Munroe, and have Adventures in Holy Matrimony (by blogger Julie Fidler) waiting in the wings.
I'm all over the map right now. ;)
Posted by: songstress7 at July 12, 2005 11:00 PMOld Nathan by David Drake. I was way surprised by this book. Drake is normally a serious sci-fi writer (and a damned good one) but this book is classic American folk fiction. It's set in post-colonial Tennessee and Drake absolutely nails the feel of the place.
